The delivery went to Veidekke Infrastruktur, which was responsible for the blasting and concrete work at the plant.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An underground facility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Katt\u00e5s water treatment plant is built in the mountains next to the existing plant, and will eventually supply large parts of Asker and all of B\u00e6rum with drinking water. The water is collected from Holsfjorden and treated in halls for filtration and disinfection, before being stored in two large clean water pools underground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Veidekke Infrastructure has been responsible for the blasting and concrete works, with around 182,000 cubic metres of rock blasted out across access tunnels and four large halls. It is a comprehensive facility that will be operated and maintained for many decades to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safe access in demanding environments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a facility of this size, safe and stable access is needed everywhere, from the clean water pools to the technical rooms. Glassfiber Products has supplied stairs and ladders that provide employees with safe movement between levels, in addition to security gates that prevent accidental access to the most demanding areas of the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fiberglass in humid environments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An underground water treatment plant is a humid and partly corrosive environment, which places high demands on the materials used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fiberglass is naturally corrosion-free, non-slip and requires little maintenance compared to other materials, making it a well-suited material for this type of installation.
