More and more fish farmers are looking to Glassfiber Products when they are looking for solid and corrosion-free product solutions. This time we have supplied walkways, stairs and other products to Steinvik Gruppen's new facility in Svelgen, Bremanger – a large land-based facility that will produce both cleaner fish and smolt.

Seeing the potential in fiberglass

The fish farming market is increasingly turning its attention to fiberglass. Production requires strong materials that can withstand demanding and corrosive environments. Fiberglass is emerging as a strong candidate due to its ease of maintenance, long life and resistance to corrosion. Its low weight and high strength make the material easy to handle and install.

Longest walkways to date

For the project, Glassfiber Products has supplied walkways, platforms, railings, stairs and ladders. Two of the walkways are the longest we have produced – at a whopping 23 meters!

Combines cleaner fish and smolt

The fiberglass products have been delivered to Steinvik Gruppen's new facility in Svelgen in Bremanger. Here Steinvik has a already existing facilities that produce cleaner fish, and now the project is being expanded. The facility will have a somewhat unusual two-part structure: one part will produce more cleaner fish and the other will be a rearing facility for salmon. Steinvik hopes to double the production of cleaner fish.

Artec Aqua AS, the general contractor behind the project, has also made arrangements for the cleaner fish facility to be converted to salmon farming. This means that Steinvik can adapt quickly if they see that market demand changes. If demand for cleaner fish disappears, smolt production can take over, and in the long term there is a possibility of to convert the smolt facility into a food fish facility.
