In recent years, Uno X has invested heavily in Nordic Ecolabeled car washes. These car washes meet strict requirements for water consumption, chemical use and emissions, and ensure that the wastewater contains minimal amounts of poorly biodegradable substances. Glassfiber Produkter AS has contributed to reducing the zinc content in the wastewater using fiberglass grates.
Plus, the yellow grates match the car wash quite well!
We visited Uno X's new car wash at Lura in Sandnes, their 56th Nordic Ecolabelled car wash. There is a lot of road work going on in the surrounding area and it is not easy to see where to turn to get into the Uno X area.
New asphalt, fast chargers, a gas station and the brand new car wash that stands out in the sun with its strong, characteristic yellow color.
Modern laundry room
The new car wash is equipped with modern technology that will make the washing experience easy for the customer and provide a thorough wash tailored to each individual car.
To get started, register your car in the Uno X app, where you can choose the type of wash you want. Once that's done, simply drive up to the front door that recognizes your license plate number. The doors open, you drive in, and the wash program starts automatically. Inside the hall, it's spacious with windows on the front and back doors, as well as full-length windows on one wall that provide a view of the roadworks just outside.
Nordic Ecolabelling, a simple choice
For Uno X, it goes without saying that the car washes should be Nordic Ecolabelled. This is to protect both the environment and the customer from negative environmental and health impacts.
The car wash products used are easily biodegradable and free of:
- Toxic and carcinogenic substances
- Fluoride and antibacterial substances
- Nano-particles
- Mutagenic and toxic to reproduction substances
- Substances that are not easily degradable
Furthermore, requirements for water consumption are very important.
That's why the car washes are equipped with an advanced purification system that purifies and reuses a full 80% of the wash water. The wastewater at Uno x's car washes is actually a full 90% better purified than traditional car washes.
Fiberglass lowers zinc content
On the floor of the car wash there is a long yellow strip with yellow gratings. These are fiberglass gratings. It is through the openings in the grating that the water will flow into the well below, before being taken up by the cleaning system.
It was no coincidence that Uno X chose fiberglass.
Fiberglass is a strong and lightweight material that is naturally non-corroding. In other words, you don't need to treat the fiberglass in a special way or add anything to prevent it from corroding.
It is this treatment that has been shown to transfer to the wash water that flows into the well and is to be recycled.
Due to the composition of the fiberglass, the material does not contain zinc.
Collaboration with Uno X
We are incredibly proud of our collaboration with Uno X. Before the car wash at Lura, we have delivered fiberglass to 3 car washes and the next installation is at their newly opened car wash at Hinna in Stavanger.
