Tailored structures in fiberglass have been designed, manufactured and delivered to Hofseth Aqua’s facility in Tafjord. The fish farming plant has been built out with a new section for post smolt, and will be part of the company’s investment in trout production. With fiberglass structures, the plant will be sturdy and long lasting.

The support of fiberglass

Towering high between the tanks you will find six meter high structures in fiberglass, structures which supports the deck between the tanks. Fiberglass bridges mounted on the ceiling hang above the tanks. In addition to stairs and ladders, we have also made pipe supports in fiberglass. The design of the pipe supports has been developed in line with requirements for strength and load. Based on these structures, we have created a standardized design for pipe support which is available on our self manufactured products page.

In the design phase, we make all adjustments to create optimal solutions. We have opted for the bridges to be attached to the roof. It’s a very practical option, and has become a popular solution.

Increasing interest from the fish farming industry

The word about our fiberglass solutions spreads quickly. More and more people are turning their eyes towards fiberglass and all the advantages the material offers. With fiberglass we can create robust and light structures which do not corrode and require minimal maintenance. Despite the low weight of the fiberglass, the level of strength still remains high and ensures robust structures with a long service life.

Light and flexible as the fiberglass is, the components can be delivered flat packed. Transport becomes easier, costs lower and moving the parts around the construction site easier.

Bigger and modernized facility for trout production

The structures have been delivered to the new part of Hofseth Aqua’s fish farming facility in Tafjord. The post smolt plant will consist of six 18-metre tanks, and will produce trout for Hofseth’s sea plant. An important part of the investment will be to increase fish welfare and produce more fish. The plant has a license to produce up to 2,000 tonnes of smolt a year.

We want to thank the contractor Artec Aqua for an exciting assignment and a good cooperation.
